Mission Statement of Our Chair

The Chair of General Business Administration and Health Care Management is a service-oriented chair. That is our mission in many respects. First of all, we would like to achieve a contribution to the improvement of the population’s health. Illnesses threaten the right to life and the dignity of humans. How efficiently these can be prevented or healed is at the focus of our teaching, research and consultancy. Our vision is to improve human health conditions through efficient use of the limited resources of the health care system. Thus, it is our mission to use our teaching, research and consultancy services to fight the waste of limited human, material and financial resources, so that we can do our part to improve health care. Within the realms of our possibilities, we would like to use our work especially to serve the socially disadvantaged in Germany and poverty groups in resource-weak countries.

Secondly, the Chair of General Business Administration and Health Care Management’s primary field of research is the efficiency of service providers. The focus is on institutions belonging to the health care and social sectors, irrespective of their funding structure. We are interested in commercial businesses, just as much as nonprofit organisations, as long as they provide health care and social services. To this effect, we see ourselves as a Chair of General Business Administration.

Thirdly, our motivation is to be a high-performing chair, which produces above-average results in research, teaching and consultancy. We also apply the efficiency criterion to our own work. As being healthy doesn’t only relate to the absence of illness, a good working climate and good cooperation with our students and cooperation partners help to keep us in top form. We are spurred on by the fact that, in a broad sense, our teaching, research and consultancy improve the health of our stakeholders.
