The textbook "Unternehmensbewertung" by Manfred Jürgen Matschke and his student Gerrit Brösel is now also available in English ("Business Valuation", 2021).
Unternehmensbewertung [de] is the first textbook to take a comprehensive look at functional business valuation theory. The book highlights undesirable developments and dead ends resulting from the one-sided focus on methods based on market prices. It examines all the important valuation methods with regard to their suitability and assigns them to the relevant functions of company valuation.
The first edition of the textbook "Unternehmensbewertung" was published in German by
(Greifswald) and Gerrit Brösel (Hagen, graduate of the University of Greifswald) in 2005. The fourth completely revised edition was published in 2013.To date, there have been translations into Polish ("Wycena przedsiębiorstwa", 2011) and Russian ("Оценка предприятий", 2018). The translations are a shortened version of the first German edition (approx. 400 pages), which have been respectively updated with regard to the sources.
The authors have recently published the fifth German edition. It has a further author, PD Dr. Christian Toll from the FernUniversität in Hagen, and was published in January 2024. PD Dr. Toll studied in Greifswald and received his doctorate from Matschke's former student Prof. Dr. Thomas Hering in Hagen in 2010. He completed his habilitation there in 2019 with the publication "Finanzwirtschaft und Unternehmensbewertung".
