AgoraNatura - NaturMarkt (AgoraNatura)
Content / Objectives:
The project involves the comprehensive redevelopment of an internet-based marketplace that brings together providers and consumers of ecosystem services and measures to improve and protect biodiversity in Germany.
The joint project investigates
- to what extent a demand for ecosystem services and biodiversity exists or can be created,
- to what extent offers for the provision of ecosystem services and biodiversity exist or can be developed,
- the extent to which supply and demand correspond with each other, and
- how an internet-based marketplace for ecosystem services and biodiversity must be institutionally implemented and embedded in the long term in the context of society as a whole.
The focus of the sub-project is on the development of offers for the provision of ecosystem services and biodiversity together with land owners and users. In particular, it is important to
- Analyse how ecosystem services and biodiversity are currently commoditised in comparable markets and who the service providers and suppliers are;
- identify suitable methods or indicators for the commodification of ecosystem services and biodiversity and how these can be used for an internet-based marketplace;
- assess which ecosystem services and biodiversity can be financed promisingly via the marketplace in view of the existing (and potential) demand and how these ecosystem services and biodiversity should be commoditised according to demand;
- to analyse which ecosystem services and biodiversity offerings are disseminated during the pilot phase of the marketplace and with what success, and who the providers are.
