Frieder Dünkel has published 33 books as (co-)author or (co-)editor. In addition, he has written about 430 papers, published in journals and books.

These works concern corrections, juvenile justice and criminology as well as the system of penal sanctions and are published in German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Czech and Japanese. From 1989 on, Frieder Dünkel has been co-editor of the journal "Neue Kriminalpolitik".
